Xscape 2011 - Keynotes and Guests

"Championing Change"

Leveraging Our Expertise and Connections
to Better Healthcare.

Keynotes:

Susannah Fox
Where the worlds of health care and online information meet, Susannah Fox is studying change.  As the Associate Director of Digital Strategy for the Pew Internet & American Life Project, Susannah and her team produces reports exploring the impact of the internet on healthcare consumers. Her survey
research has documented The Social Life of Health Information as well as the fact that participation matters as much as access.  Patients and the people who love them are not just a target audience, but a resource for innovation and knowledge. A popular presenter at industry conferences, and quoted frequently in the news, Susannah will open our minds to change with her insights of how today's online trends are affecting the practice of care.

Victoria Pynchon
After a 25-year litigation career, Victoria Pynchon changed the way she practiced law - she began mediating the same type of high-stakes commercial disputes she once litigated. With a refreshing perspective that we all are part of the problem as well as a part of the solution, Vickie returns to X2HN by popular demand to continue teaching us the fundamental skills of conflict resolution. Bringing us enlightenment in all aspects of our lives, this prolific author and speaker shares pearls of wisdom such as: "I will remember that each of my fellows is struggling with burdens that, if known, would cause me to respond to them with far greater kindness." and "It is usually better to be happy than to be right".

Special Guest Speaker:

Kathryn Simpson
Kathryn R. Simpson, M.S., was an executive in the biotech industry with an active family at home when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Rather than accept a diminishing lifestyle, Kathy began a relentless search for diagnosis and medication alternatives.  Her discoveries lead her to change the way she thought about healthcare, and after conducting endocrine research, founded The Hormone Research Center, which researches hormone imbalance as well as diseases such as multiple sclerosis, lupus, and fibromyalgia. She is the author of three books, including the The Perimenopause and Menopause Workbook, and strives to help others  learn about their hormones and their health. As Xscape participants, Kathy invites you to come prepared with your hormone blood test results, which she will help you to interpret.
